DIY Multi-Colored Playdough

Tue, Jan 14, 2014 | DIY Projects, Toys

Playdough is very fun and is good for sensory development. Make it by yourself, and you will see that your kids will play all the time with it! You will need 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup salt, 2 tbsp cream of tartar, 1 cup water, 2 tbsp vegetable oil and gel food coloring. Mix all of your dry ingredients together in a medium saucepan. Add your wet ingredients, including a good amount of gel food coloring and mix well. It will remain roughly the same color, so add more in this stage, if needed. Place your pan on the stove top over medium heat. Stir continuously until it starts to get chunky. Keep stirring until it forms a big dough ball. You will know when to take it out, then place on a plate to cool. Once cool, knead it a bit yourself. The whole process takes about 5 mins. You can really whip out a multicolored set in no time.

Excellent DIY Shoebox Theater

Tue, Jan 14, 2014 | DIY Projects

All kids love puppet theaters, especially if you can make a personalized one at home! You will need shoebox with lid, 1 piece of cardboard, approximately A3 sized, 1 sheet of white copy paper, 2 sheets of dark and light blue A4-sized paper, 5 or 6 wooden skewers, 1 strand of LED Christmas lights (10 lights), small wooden beads, ruler, craft knife, cutting mat, scissors (kid-friendly), felt-tip pens, black and colored, pencil, scotch tape, glue and glue stick. Mark a frame on the bottom of the shoebox and cut it out. Draw 3 or 4 lines on a long side of the shoebox. Cut the slots with your craft knife. To make a platform, mark and cut the same lines as before on a slightly smaller piece of cardboard that should fit inside the box as shown. Read the rest of the tutorial in the source and enjoy!

Funny DIY Barnyard Blowouts

Fri, Jan 10, 2014 | DIY Projects

At all times any party consists of some small but very important details, for example, you can make really funny barnyard blowouts for a barnyard birthday party. Especially if kids will make them by their own hands. And sometimes it’s very interesting way to spend time while waiting for other guests to arrive. You can make barnyard blowouts with your kids. First of all you need to photocopy templates at 200 percent and then cut out. Trace onto card stock, cut out and use a utility knife to cut on dotted lines. You must make details from construction paper (you can use craft punches to make perfect circles) for kids to glue on. Then they can poke blowout through slits. Enjoy!

30 Glamorous And Whimsy Teen Girls Room Design Ideas To Get Inspired

Fri, Jan 10, 2014 | Kids room

I like glamorous girl’s spaces, they usually showcase such true elegance and sophistication! Glam doesn’t really mean that the room should be definitely in pink shades and covered in glitter and sequins (although it might in reasonable quantities). Recently I’ve noticed that many of today’s most eye-catching glam spaces feature some vibrant colors like orange, turquoise or even splashes of neon. The key to success when designing girl’s room in glamorous style is in the right details and accents, all chic yet child-friendly. It can be mirrors in interesting frames, chandeliers, some poufs, artworks, etc. But once again: keep everything simple and whimsical, because being too fascinated with chic details you may find yourself buying some furniture and stuff in grown-up style. Have a look at some cool rooms below to get inspired!

Vivid And Funny Scandinavian-Style Nursery Design Inspiration

Thu, Jan 9, 2014 | Kids room

I’ve always been drawn to Dutch and Scandinavian-style spaces, but in fact most of them I’ve seen were black and white. So, when I saw this bright and sunny nursery, I was surprised and thrilled, and I’m glad to share its photos with you! It’s eclectic, it does mix vintage pieces with the modern décor like in, I’d say, classical Scandinavian-style rooms, but it also has such vivid pops of color. What I like about this nursery also is that it’s very childlike: its unique design breaks all common rules and allows to use together bold patterned wallpaper, washi-taped walls, pom poms and funny garlands. It looks like a celebration of childhood and reflection of kid’s joyfulness. Enjoy!

Funny DIY Origami Finger Puppet

Wed, Jan 8, 2014 | DIY Projects

You always can make a small home theatre for your kids. It won’t take a lot of time but you and your kids will have a very good mood. Make some puppets! You will need paper napkins, colored pencils, crayons or markers. Let’s start! Fold top corner down to bottom; reopen. Now fold bottom corner up to middle; refold top down. You gotta make left and right corners down to bottom. Fold bottom points up, angled, beyond top edges. Fold sides in at an angle. Fold bottom point up to meet the top center point; flip over. Take tips of center points to the back. Make right shapes for ears: for dog fold forward; for bear fold tips back; for bunny leave long. Draw on details.
